Phase 1
The building may have simply originated as a small simple single bay, single storey cottage (outlined in black), may have been one remaining bay of a two or more bay building with attached barns (outlined in red), or one bay of a range of barns.
Phase 2
A new two storey bay is constructed on the north end of the building, replacing the original northern wall. At the same time the roof is raised over the original bay to allow enough room for a first floor to be inserted. A chimney is built within the new bay, with fireplaces heating both ground floor rooms.
Phase 3
The remainder of the earlier building is demolished and replaced by 19th Century brick built cottages.
