!900 Ashburn in Burge End was originally two cottages. Charles Carter, former village policeman and his wife Eliza are sitting in the garden with some of his children, Florence, Ester and Joseph.

 

 Renovated 1974 Ashburn The two cottages were stripped down and the lathe and plaster was removed to reveal the timber frame. They were incorporated into a single, modernised house renamed Ashburn.

 

Rebuilt 1975 Ashburn The shape of the original house was retained, but a large extension has been added. The outflow from the moat around Rectory Farm runs through the garden and continues along into Washbrook.
