Barbara’s grandma Kate Chamberlain lived in Palmers Row opposite Blacksmiths Pond. The cottages were built by Mr Palmer the Shillington butcher, replacing an old farmhouse on the site.

Davis Crescent was named after Councillor Ernest Davis of Rectory Farm. The council houses were built after the First World War for returning soldiers.
